Wollongong receives 5 star rating in Good Universities Guide

The release of the 2007 Good Universities Guide has only served to reaffirm the
University of Wollongong's long standing commitment to excellence with a 5 star rating.

This rating was given to the university for all-round excellence in the tertiary
education sector. The publication has lauded the university's high level of prestige and for scoring "consistently well across all major indicators". UOW was among the top 20 % of Australian universities to be awarded this rating.

The rating included performance indicators including :

  • Positive graduate outcomes
  • Graduate starting salary
  • Educational experience
  • Overall satisfaction
  • Generic skills
  • Overall experience
  • Staff qualifications

UOW Vice-Chancellor, Gerard Sutton, said that the key performance indicators in which the university scored were the true measure of its standing in the tertiary education sector.

"I think prospective Australian and overseas students scrutinising this Guide will see how well the University of Wollongong stands in comparison to this country's other universities", he said.

The Good Universities Guide draws on information collated from the Federal Department of Education, Science & Training (DEST) as well as the results of the Graduate Destination Survey. The Guide is now available in most newsagents and bookshops nationwide.
