Money and Banking
Australian currency follows the decimal system and is divided into 100 cents. The note denominations are $5,$10,$20,$50,$100. Coin denominations are gold coloured $1 and $2 with other coins being the silver coloured 5c,10c,20c,50c.
Banking
On arrival, you must have sufficient funds to cover your immediate needs and traveller's cheques are best advised because they are secure. You must also open a bank account and produce a proof of identity when doing so. Your passport will suffice.
Automatic teller machines (ATMs) are popular for withdrawing and depositing funds. International students are advised to keep their Personal Identification Number (PIN) a secret for security reasons.

Health CoverInternational students and their dependents must maintain their Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of their stay in Australia.Medibank Private is the preferred OSHC provider for Central Queensland University. The first payment must be made with the payment of tuition fees and this cover must be maintained as long as the student is in Australia. Membership fees are paid annually.
