UOW writer offered US two-book deal

Faculty of Creative Arts senior lecturer Dr. Merlinda Bobis, winner of several literary awards and fellowships, has won a lucrative two-book deal with Bantam in the United States.

The deal includes her novel "Banana Heart Summer' and her current work in progress "The Solemn Lantern Maker".

Dr Bobis is a Filipino-Australian and has published five poetry books, a collection of
short stories and a monograph on writing fiction.
