UOW In top 200 uni listing
The University of Wollongong has earned a place in the Times Higher Education Supplement Top 200 World University Rankings. UOW was ranked 196 in the ratings which were released only recently. The ratings list the top cohort of universities from over 15,000 institutions across the globe. The listing since its inception has been often subject to debate and controversy.
But the UOW ranking has also earned praise from its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Gerard Sutton. Professor Sutton described the ratings as evidence of the long standing prestige that the university has earned in the international academic community.
"This ranking puts us in an elite group of world-class universities", he said.
"It is a great tribute to all general and academic staff, as well as to our former graduates."
The performance indicators for this publication include:
- Academic & research performance (academic peer review)
- Recruiter review
- Student faculty ratio
- Citations per faculty member
- Proportion of international faculty and proportion of international students
